Bird watcher, four legs, whiskers

Lyle Anderson, who lives on Park Point, sent along a wonderful batch of pictures he has taken over the past several days.
But I especially got a kick out of this picture, which was not of a bird but a bird watcher:

The cat sits next to Lyle and watches birds with him, Lyle told me. But no worries: It’s strictly an indoor cat.
What were they watching?

A male downy woodpecker …

One of the Northland’s favorite all-year-around birds, a chickadee …

Another downy …

A couple of juncos and a chickadee on the peanut feeder …

A pensive purple finch …

A junco (welcome back, juncos!) …

A red-breasted nuthatch …

And a white-breasted nuthatch.

Lyle also responded to an earlier post showing a woodpecker on a hummingbird feeder. He said his wife has seen a male downy woodpecker land on the perch of a hummingbird feeder. After all of that suet, maybe they like a sweet drink.
