Gull gone

The Northland’s best-known gull has left for the winter.
Jodi Chambers, general manager of the Super 8 Motel on 40th Avenue West in Duluth, reports that Steven Seagull, the bird that knocks on the motel’s front door for food, has not knocked all week.
(Of course, he’s not really a seagull, but Steven Gull or Steven Ring-billed Gull just doesn’t have the same ear-appeal.)
Steven, who seems to be partial to doughnuts, usually returns in mid-March, Jodi wrote in an e-mail to the Duluth News Tribune. This was his 11th year as an outside guest of the Super 8.
