This is an old story for those in the bird rescue field (I used to be a webmaster for a bird rescuer in Memphis TN). Here is a link to a page from the American Bird Conservancy called ‘Cats Indoors’ http://www.abcbirds.org/abcprograms/policy/cats/index.html. The author of that page didn’t know how many birds are killed cats. This story fills in that crucial bit of data.
I also don’t like cats. People dump them out in the country. My husband will use a pellet gun to frighten them off if they come anywhere into our yard. Sadly, our neighbor likes the ferals and I fear for the ground nesting birds we get in our pasture. We also have roaming coyotes in the area and they are known to eat a few cats. Makes me appreciate the coyotes a little more.
